Trip to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve

April 2006

We had heard about this preserve here in Gilbert.  So, we called up our friends, Karen and Grace Murphy and Kim, Owen and Seth Hastey, to go and check it out.  It is the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert.  There are lots of ponds around (water reclamation by the city of Gilbert) all surrounded by trails.  We saw lots of wildlife too, flowers AND animals.  The kids had a blast :)

First, we saw a turtle by the side of the trail.  He was quietly trying to hide :)
Later, we saw him trying to cross the trail.

Then, we saw several types of ducks...white ones

And some Mallards too

This guy was cooling himself off, dunking into the water and then flapping around

There are lots of beautiful flowers in Arizona.
Here are bright pink flowers on a Hedgehog Cactus.

Some bright orange Desert Mallow blossoms

Jared, Grace and Owen decided to take a stretch by walking around a bit.
Too cute, all holding hands :)

Grace and Jared...buddies!

We saw LOTS of Desert Cottontail Rabbits hopping around, just in time for Easter :)

Then the kids decided to expend some more energy by running around and playing :)

And climbing, Mr. Daredevil!

Jared enjoyed running around

And so did Grace :)
