Third Quilt Made in Summer 2009

It's a 4th of July table runner. I've been wanting to make one for a while now. I found the pattern, free (yay!), off the web and found the fabrics at Joann's

Second Quilt Made in Summer 2006

I decided to make another quilt...this time for our son, Jared.  I found a pattern I liked and expanded it by adding another row and column of blocks.  The quilt measures 64.5 inches long by 52 inches wide.  Then, I picked out the fabric.  We know Jared's love and preferences for things will change but lately he likes fire trucks.  So, that was the inspiration fabric (in the blue).  Jared will be able to keep this handmade quilt from his mom forever!  Check out the pictures below of the final product.

First Quilt Made in Late 2002

These are pictures of the first quilt I ever made.  I took a four week "beginner's sampler" quilt class in November 2002 at Quilter's Koop in Tempe, Arizona.  We learned how to make a quilt containing different block patterns.  It was supposed to be a quilt with 3x3 block rows but Paul encouraged me to extend it by one more row, making it very useful for cuddling up in :)  The quilt measures 73 inches long by 57 inches wide.

The one drawback to the class was it did not teach you how to machine quilt; that is covered in another class :)  So, after I completed the quilt top, backing, and purchased some batting I got a local quilter lady to machine quilt the pieces together.  She did an awesome job!  Then, I finished it off by sewing on the edge binding.  Now, I cannot wait to take a machine quilting class and start on my next quilt!
